Each unauthorized claim is assigned a status. This file contains the possible status' which an unauthorized claim may be assigned. Associated with a status is the status order. This is the order in which a claim may progress. Also associated with each status is the number of days before the claim expires, if applicable. *** ENTRIES SHOULD NOT BE ADDED TO THIS FILE *** Per VHA Directive 10-93-142, this file definition should not be modified.

.01	status(+)	0;1	FREE TEXT		B	This field contains the status of an unauthorized claim.
.02	active?	0;2	BOOLEAN	1:YES		This field indicates if the status is active.
.03	days prior expiration	0;3	NUMERIC			If filled in, allowable number of days a claim has before proceeding to the next status.
.04	status order(+)	0;4	NUMERIC		AO	A whole number which represents the sequential order of the status. Entry must be unique. Software controls status, based on this value.
.05	letter	0;5	POINTER	161.3		This field is a pointer to file 161.3, Fee Basis Letter. A letter will be printed if there is an entry in this field. Only unauthorized claim type letters are selectable.
.06	1725 letter	0;6	POINTER	161.3		This field is a pointer to file 161.3, Fee Basis Letter. A letter for a claim being considered under 38 U.S.C. 1725 will be printed if there is an entry in this field. Only unauthorized claim type letters are selectable.
.07	days prior 1725 expiration	0;7	NUMERIC			If filled in, allowable number of days a Mill Bill (38 U.S.C. 1725) claim has before proceeding to the next status.
