This file is used to associate a DSS Department code with each active ward in the medical center. Do not use FileMan to enter/edit data in this file. The DSS Site Manager is provided with a specific menu option with which to perform file updates.

1	dss department(+)	0;2	FREE TEXT			The DSS Department code consists of a minimum of 4 characters as: ABBCxxx Derived as follows: A = DSS CODE in NATIONAL SERVICE file (#730) BB = DSS PRODUCTION UNIT CODE in DSS PRODUCTION UNIT file (#729) C = DSS DIVISION IDENTIFIER in DSS DIVISION IDENTIFIER file (#727.3) xxx = A suffix of not more than three characters which must be numeric digits or uppercase alpha characters. The first character of the string may be "-", but that is not recommended. This field should not be edited through FileMan. Use the appropriate DSS EXTRACTS option.
