This file provides codes associated with DSS production units. These codes are used when the DSS Site Manager develops DSS Department codes to be associated with various medical center entities such as wards. This file is intended for read only purposes. It must not be modified in any way by the local site. Modifications to this file will be distributed nationally in accordance with guidance provided by the DSS Bedford Technical Services Office.

1	long description(+)	0;3	FREE TEXT			A descriptive phrase which defines the DSS Production Unit. As with all information associated with DSS Production Units, this is provided by the Bedford Technical Services Office.
2	short description	0;4	FREE TEXT			An acronym-like character string which identifies the DSS Production Unit. The string may be no more than 10 characters in length. It may contain uppercase letters, numeric digits, and certain special characters (e.g., "/", "-", and ).
